We bought the building in 2005 with the intention of transforming it into a personal idea of how a luxury Welsh hotel should be, offering our visitors a celebration of Welsh talents:
Local artist Bethan Clwyd painted our striking oil canvases. |
Twice chaired bard Tudur Dylan Jones composed an englyn (a traditional welsh verse) for the hotel, and Mererid Hopwood the first female ever to be chaired at the National Eisteddfod, wrote an englyn for the restaurant. |
Simon Hooper from Specialist Models, Cardiff built our bar and reception desk. |
Carpenter Selwyn Thomas from Trefor made our oak furniture. |
The whole building renovation was supervised by local Aberystwyth Architect Harry James and main building contractors Richard and John Jones from Jones Joinery, Cricieth. All sub-contractors (electricians, plumbers, painters, tillers, plasterers, carpenters, glass suppliers, blacksmiths, brickies, coving specialists etc) were local or from Wales. |

Through Gwesty Cymru we hope to have created an environment of pampered luxury, whilst also showcasing what Wales has to offer at its very best.
We hope you enjoy your stay. |
